Destinations for the birdwatching tours can include:
Lake Wivenhoe: waterbirds, often raptors and grassland birds, also often kangaroos and koalas. En route forest birds, rainforest aviary (Note: the current drought has reduced this Lake's appeal).
Green Mountains (O'Reilly's) or Binna Burra, both at the edge of Lamington National Park: rainforest, with open forest and wetlands along the way. Often also see pademelons and other wallabies
Redlands: open forest, coastal woodlands and wetlands birds. Also a good chance of seeing koalas.
...............................................
Leave the city at mid-day and head to Redlands Indigescapes for lunch (including if desired a cup of herbal tea brewed from native plants), then a short walk through eucalypt forest seeking koalas, forest birds, waterbirds and (in the warmer months) reptiles.
Then it's off to Daisy Hill State Forest to see wallabies (and possibly koalas and frogmouths) before sitting and watching several thousands of large and noisy fruitbats hanging from the trees then taking off on their nightly foraging trips for nectar and fruit.
After refreshments we have a gentle stroll through another eucalypt forest seeking possums, gliders, owls and other nocturnal creatures before taking our guests back to their accommodation or transport. We always see wildlife but don't guarantee particular species for any one day.
